Family Life, the Universe and Everything with a Latte on the Side

An A - Z of Me

Monday, 27 August 2018

Hope you all had a great summer and are ready for school starting again.  (Or as ready as anyone can be).  I'm still in the process of sorting out photos from our US adventures so I can tell you all about it next week when normal blogging service will be resumed.  Rev T has written me three posts about his trip to Atlanta that I'm really excited to be able to share.  (As it means I have more time to write my posts ... * cough *)

I've seen the A - Z of me tag on a few blogs and enjoyed reading the posts so much I decided to write my own for this week.

"Hello everyone".

Coffee and biscuit

A.  Age.  53.   It's just a number.  A rather big one.

B. Biggest fear.  Something bad happening to my family.  Spiders get an honourable mention as well. They terrify me.  There's something unnatural about them.

C. Current time.  2:15pm on Saturday.

D. Drink you last had.  Hot Ribena.  Drinking it as I type.

E. Easiest person to talk to.  Rev T who is amazingly sensible and understanding.  My boss, G, who is totally no nonsense with swears.  My friend, L, who can always be relied on for an honest answer and support.

F. Favourite song.  It's a toss up between U2's "Sweetest Thing" and "Beautiful Day."  The first is the nearest thing that Rev T and I have to a tune whilst the second was our wedding dance.  (Well, less of a dance and more of a shuffle around the room).

G. Ghosts.  Are they real?  No.  But I believe that places have atmospheres. Years ago, I saw an actual guillotine or gallows at the London Dungeon that radiated misery and hate, making me feel cold and ill.  I couldn't get away from it quickly enough.  Then there are thin places where you get a sense of something else, more powerful, totally other but kindly.

H. Hometown.  Bristol, but we moved to South London when I was eight so Croydon gets an honorary mention.

I. In love with.  Rev T and the Tubblet.

J. Jealous of?  No one really.

K.  Killed someone?  Not that I know of.

L. Last time you cried.  At my mother in law's funeral who died of cancer last year. She was a lovely, kind woman.  I will always miss her.

M. Middle name.  Anne.

O. One wish.  Aside from obvious things like my family to be happy, safe and well provided for, I'd also like world peace, an end to hunger and equal rights for all.  It would be great if the Referendum could be cancelled as well.  Not sure if the wounds and divisions it caused will ever heal.

P.  Person you last called.  Rev T to ask "Where you go?" whilst we were out and about.

Q.  Question you're always asked.  "Have you done x yet?"  Everything gets done in the end, just not at the speed everyone else hopes.

R.  Reason to smile.  We're all off to see "Black Panther" later today and having a meal out first.  We're twice blessed.  We enjoy spending time together as a family and we can afford to do things like this every so often.

S. Song last sung.  "Feel It Still" by Portugal. The Man.

T.  Time you woke up. 7am to the sound of Mufasa calling for his breakfast and to be let out.  He gets locked in at night as we live in the Croydon Cat Killer's territory.  It sounds unkind, but it's to try and keep him safe.  He goes out during the day. When he can be bothered.

U.  Underwear.  M&S' finest in black.

V. Vacation destination.  USA.  We have family there who can put us up.  Otherwise we wouldn't be able to go as it's so expensive to travel during the school holidays.  We are very lucky and we're extremely grateful.

W.  Worst habit.  Grumping.  Apparently I wake up grumpy, grump my way through the day, grump  myself to sleep and then wake up the next day to do it all again.

X.  X-rays you've had.  Lots.  Broken finger during PE at school.  Bitten finger while trying to help a squirrel who'd been run over and get it the PDSA.  Each visit to the dentists.

Y. Your favourite food.  Only one?!  Cheese, bacon, chocolate, coffee ... No wait, that doesn't sound very healthy ... Kale, quinoa ... Um ...

Z.  Zodiac sign.  Libra.

Let me know your answers in the comments or in your own post.
