Some gardens are so beautiful and curated by a loving expert who can tell you exactly what the plants are, when they were planted, how to take care of them and offer you a cutting to take home. They're so welcoming it's like having an extra, solar powered room. Stephanie over at Life at 139a has such a garden and I love to virtually visit. All the beauty with none of the actual work.
Then there's our garden. When your garden is only a borrow, you don't do too much. You don't want to leave the next incumbent with loads of work. (That's our excuse and we're sticking too it. We're also completely clueless when it comes to gardening). But as we appear to be having a proper summer at long last, I thought I'd share a few pictures.
The back garden is a huge, grassed over area that backs onto the church. There's a shed that is quietly being reclaimed by ivy. It's used for the occasional bar-be-que and sitting out but it really belongs to Mufasa. He protects his Pride Lands from other cats and delights in setting the security lights off at night. He also uses it as a place to relax, nap, poop and - unfortunately - hunt. Fortunately, as he's a rather large cat, his success rate is low. Long may this continue. Half chewed birds are not very pleasant.
In the front there is more grass plus a few lovely bushes and trees. As I wish I could tell you more about them apart from the colour of the flowers. If you know what they are, let me know in the comments. There's also a flower bed which has been turned into a pet cemetery. The last resting place of both pairs of gerbils. RIP Chad and Troy and Sparkle and Storm.
Thank you for coming. Hope you enjoyed the visit.

I always think it is lovely to have your pet cemetery in the garden - we did when I was a child. Special memories. I am not a gardener but we have lovely ones in our new place and I love all the colour and interest #AnythingGoes
ReplyDeleteRev T was instructed by the Tubblet to do the funerals properly - with all the words and a sermon!!!
DeleteBack again via #BigPinkLink and you sparked a memory of my mum taking cuttings just about everywhere she went whether the owner of the garden knew or not. She loved her garden but Dad did most of the hard work with her directing operations and choices
ReplyDeleteMy parents were similar. My mum did alot of the weeding, decided where things went and was a shameless taker of cuttings but my dad did most of the work behind the scenes. The garden is stunning!
DeleteLoved seeing the picture of your cat surveying his domain. They do think they own it all, don't they? Beautiful flower pics!
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Mufasa is a rescue we've had for a year. This is the first summer he's been really confident about going into the garden and owning his domain. It's been lovely to see his confidence grow
DeleteLooks lovely. A colorful place. #dreamteam

Thank you :)
DeleteWe also had several pets buried in our garden, unfortunately we had to move house and leave them there, we did have one of my dog's sticks that he liked to chase on top of his grave, so we moved that to the fence in the new back garden and as we still have pets in years to come they will have be buried near the stick#bloggersblast@_karendennid
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely idea. It gives you something to remember them all by. I'm not sure what we'll do with the Gerbil Graveyard when we finally move. Probably leave them there
DeleteYour garden looks lovely....So colourful!
ReplyDeleteWe only have a concrete back yard and a small front garden with bushes and stones in. #bloggersbest
Thank you :) I did showcase the best bits though. It's mainly grass ...
DeleteSome beautiful flowers here! Our garden is a good size and my hubby loves to do it for the summer :-) Thanks for sharing with #bloggersbest
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Artfully photographed. I didn't show you any of the naff bits :) Thank you for hosting

Thank you. So pleased with the photo of Mufasa. Not quite sure how I managed it!
Deletelove the photo of the cat, i currently don't have a garden as i'm in the UK, but due to the lovely weather i've been enjoying sitting by the river right outside my flat
ReplyDeleteThank you. He is a bit of a tart and loves having his photo taken. Your garden in Dubai is lovely :)
DeleteNot cat to mess with, it seems! #DreamTeam
ReplyDeleteMufasa has totally come out of himself in the last year since he came home with us from the shelter ... It's been great to see how having a forever home has calmed him down
Deletegorgeous garden and kitty kat X
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteWhat a pretty garden. I'm completely jealous of your grass. Having grass is something that I miss every single day. What I wouldn't do for just a little square of it. We have a teeny courtyard garden. The flower beds are so full, we can't really do anything else with it. Enjoy your space! Thank you for sharing with the #dreamteam xx
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of grass ... Lots of grass. Mowing it takes ages. Thank you for hosting each week
DeleteGorgeous garden! You have such lovely flowers and plants, I am terrible at gardening! #bigpinklink
ReplyDeleteYou should see the bits I very carefully didn't photograph!
DeleteSuch a gorgeous cat, just like my first 2 cats almost 30 years ago! #bloggerclubuk
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Mufasa is very handsome and a total tart having his photo taken
