"Here's Mufasa ..." |
You may have noticed we have a cat, Mufasa. He's slightly bonkers and has made his presence felt around the house since he arrived. He has particular affection for the furniture ... I'm not sure the furniture would feel the same if it had feelings to return.
As some of you have only met him during his appearances as a prop in blog photos, I thought I'd introduce him properly. The Furry Friend tag found on Hannah's Wonderland seemed a nice way to do it so off we go ...
What is your animal’s name?
Mufasa. It was the name the RSPCA gave him at the shelter. It suits him. He's a big, talkative cat who makes his presence felt.
What type of pet is it and what breed?
He is a moggy. British shorthair with a colouring that suggests there's some Bengal in the mix there somewhere.
How long have you had your pet friend?
A year in July.
How did you receive your pet?
We saw him on the RSPCA's website and visited him at the shelter. After a few meetings and a home visit, he was all ours. It took a few months of adjustments on both sides before he fully settled in. He seems totally at home now.
How old is the pet?
At least 4 years old. We don't really know.
What are some quirky aspects of your pet’s personality?
It's like living with a toddler. One with fur, claws, fangs and a different meow for every occasion.
Mufasa lives very much in the now in a world that's Mufasa shaped. He wants that food, the warm space you just left, your lap, attention ... Now ... Regardless of what else is going on. You can't even pee in peace. He either walks in to have a good stare or meows while scratching the door. It's his house now and we just live in it.
Mufasa's very curious and anything new that comes into the house gets sniffed and assessed for it's entertainment potential. Boxes, bubble wrap ... Awesome!
Like all cats, he's very friendly when he wants to be. But he doesn't often climb onto a lap. He has to be invited. Maybe he is a vampire after all.
He loves hunting on the stairs and lies in wait to take a swipe at whoever is passing. As you can see from the photo, he's quite determined to hit his target. "Slay all day".
Mufasa's not a graceful and elegant creature. He's very clumsy and often falls off things. Like all cats, he hates being made fun of so we have to leave the room so we can laugh properly.
He also likes sitting on things looking extremely sweet and angelic. As you can see from this photo.

"But mum, I was only gone for a minute ..." |
What does your connection with your pet imply to you?
It's lovely having a furry friend around the house. Particularly when you're home alone. It's nice having company.
What are your favourite times with your pet?
Purrs, cuddles and snuggles. I'm less keen on the extra hoovering, clothes brushing, clearing the litter tray or mopping up sick. I really hate attempting to apply medical treatments to a wiggling, angry creature. Got to be done though. And is good for the reflexes.
What are some of your pet’s nicknames?
Muf, Muffy, Stink Bum and Furry Fleabag / Nutter.

"It wasn't me ..." |
We had a cat, named Socks, now sadly passed, he ruled the neighbourhood, very cat for Miles was terrified of him#,blogginggoodtime@_karendennis
ReplyDeleteMufasa is a real homebody. This really surprised us as we expected him to be similar - an outdoors cat that ruled the neighbourhood - as he's so big.
DeleteMufasa is such a cute cat and I loved reading your tag. My daughter would love a cat. Claire x #ablogginggoodtime
ReplyDeleteHe is :) Like all cats he has his moments, but he's been a great addition to the family.
DeleteHe's a beautiful looking cat - so handsome! I do love how cats are such personalities - they know what they want and how to get it! Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
ReplyDeleteHe is very handsome and he knows it! :)
DeleteYour cat is adorable! I love that you compare him to a furry toddler - I've never heard the two likened before. Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub and happy Easter1 x
ReplyDeleteBut the comparison kind of makes sense ... Thank you for hosting each week and a Happy Easter to you too
DeleteI love the name! (big lion king fan). He looks like he's in charge! I have two cats called Dawn and Luna and they boss the baby around. #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteThank you. It wasn't what we would have chosen, but I can't imagine him being called anything else. He is Lord of the Pride Lands. Or at least the house :)
DeleteAw, Mufasa is gorgeous! That photo of him curled up with a book is just the cutest thing! #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteThank you. :)
DeleteAww... Mufasa is so lovely. Can we borrow him please. E&E are so pleading for a pet, (actually I do too! ;) Love his personality. Cute and clumsy. Hello Mufasa! Nice to meet you. :) x
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for linking up with us on #FabFridayPost
I'm not sure Mufasa would be a good cat for smaller children as he is quite feisty. Our previous cat, Pollyanna, would have been better as she was very mellow and a total lap-cat.
DeleteSounds like your cat is perfectly named. I hope you narrate his life with James Earl Jones's voice in your head!

We've never been brave enough to hold him over our heads and sing the song ...
DeleteI LOVE CATS!! We have 4 here. Our oldest is 16 now she's a Maine Coon, then we have 2 who are 14/15 years old a tabby and a bengal and then a little 3 year old black and white cat. Necer intended to end up with 4 - 2 were given to us to look after and ended up staying, I bought the Bengal when I was in my early 20s and the littlest was a rescue. #fabfridaypost
ReplyDeleteAh lovely! 4 fur babies. I think 4 would be too much for Rev T ... He sometimes struggles to cope with one.
DeleteAh Mustafa looks lovely! The first picture reminds me of when our puppy first came home. Our cat gingerly came down the stairs to see if it was safe, poking her head through the banister! #kcacols
ReplyDeleteAh!!!!!!! Mufasa likes to hunt and play on the stairs so when he pokes his head between the banister a paw ready to swipe isn't far behind!
DeleteCats are the BEST! My other half's immediate family had one until she sadly passed in 2012. She is missed daily. Thank you for sharing x #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteThey are :)
DeleteHe is one handsome dude! Thank you for more info on him! #petsrule #KCACOLS xoxo
ReplyDeleteHe is! But your dog is absolutely adorable. Pets do, indeed, rule!
