I've been really busy for the last few weeks, finishing up work projects, thinking about new ideas for the blog, preparing stuff for church and lots of other things. Despite the hustle and bustle, I've still managed to find time to see:
- The sound of baby birds in their nest in the eves of our house. Safely out of Mufasa's reach.
- The wonderful taste of that first gulp of coffee in the morning or a glass of white wine on a Friday night.
- That's it's lovely to be warming myself by the fire while wrapped in a blanket in our cosy living room. Bonus if it's accompanied by the sound of a cat purring.
- The sense of excitement I get when a new episode of Star Trek: Discovery drops on Netflix. (One a week?! So mean! Why can't they box set them like they have almost everything else?! Bring on Season 2)
- How much I miss cheese. Rev T has gone diary-free so this means less cheese for me as he does the shopping and most of the cooking.
This weekend, we'll be meeting up with friends, strolling to either a coffee shop or pub and pottering around the house. Relishing time offline in other words. Rejoicing in the absence of snow. What have you got planned?
What unexpected things have you noticed this week?
Despite a stream of blog posts, social media and Google pictures all week, I failed to notice it's International Women's Day today. (Thank goodness for the edit button).
We may "have come a long way baby", but we've still so much further to go. If you don't get the reference, it's from an advertising campaign for Virginia Slim, a US cigarette brand targeted at women that ran from 1968 - 90. Flaskbak shows how the campaign and messaging evolved over time to reflect changing attitudes. Totally fascinating and well worth a few moments of your valuable time.
There is nothing better than the first gulp of Friday night wine! :-) #SharingTheBlogLove

DeleteThis is going to sound minor but I took a nap for the first time in years on saturday lunchtime and it was epic.... The kids actually just left me to it. #FabFridayPost
ReplyDeleteI remember the first nap when the Tubblet was old enough to amuse herself. It was, indeed, epic! I felt invincible afterwards!
DeleteI'm completely with you on that first sip of coffee - I'm not getting enough sleep and I just don't function before that first coffee! And I relate to the missing cheese too - I've gone dairy free too, and it's the cheese I miss the most. Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
ReplyDeleteVegan cheese just isn't the same. :( We tried ...
DeleteSounds like you've been busy but it's good that you noticed those good things. I'm not sure I could go dairy-free - certainly not out of choice! :)
