They say you can tell the poshness of an area by the ratio of coffee shops to chicken shops. Whoever said that didn't count on the chap who owns the local chicken shop setting up a brand new coffee shop. Hedging his bets obviously. The coffee shop was then sold it on to the lovely Italian couple who run it now. (Not sure about the chicken shop. He may still own that).
While there is always tea and coffee at home, and snuggling on the sofa with a hot cup of something is great, they usually taste better elsewhere.
We have a home away from home just a short walk away. Somewhere we can go to relax, think, read a book, work, write a sermon or sit down with a hot drink whilst watching the village go by. A place where we feel welcome whether we've gone with a family member, a friend or on our own. They know our names and our orders. Like Cheers, but with frothy coffee, avocado smash and banana bread. No pictures of that so please admire the scone and jam with a latte on the side instead.
We have a coffee shop around the corner. And not just a coffee shop. A good coffee shop. A really good coffee shop. Outstanding! Somewhere to chill out when you want to get out of the house for a bit of peace.
What's your favourite spot for a little peace and quiet?

Pinched this post title from one of my favourite films - The Shop Around the Corner - with James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan. A remake featuring two coffee shop workers might work ...
As I have nothing good to say about the result of the General Election, I have decided to say nothing at all.

This looks like a lovely place. I like to go for a walk in the countryside for some peace and quiet.
ReplyDeleteIt is. We're really lucky to have it within walking distance
DeleteOh I love a good coffee! #bigpinklink
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteI love to smell coffee. I can smell that one. Yum a good coffee and book cannot be beaten #bigpinklink
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. A good coffee and a book are prefect :)
DeleteI don't like coffee and am more at home working in a library, but my friend is obsessed with coffee shops and coffee! We have one down the road, so I must pop in even if it is for a cheeky scone!
ReplyDeleteA tea and a cheeky scone? Enjoy
Deletelooks lovely #humpdaylinky
ReplyDeleteIt is. Thank you for commenting
DeleteThat looks lovely. I love coffee, in fact, I epitomise the cliche of a "coffee-until-wine-mommy-blogger". My fav is a BIG cappuccino with lots of cream and a slice of lemon cheesecake (fridge, not baked).

DeleteI love coffee shops, especially for writing posts. #FridayFrolics
ReplyDeleteMe too. Rev T also writes a lot of sermons there
DeleteI always want a coffee like this and I never get one!! Mine is always a splodge. One day, one day I will get the coffee of my dreams....
ReplyDeleteHope so!
Deletewhoops #FridayFrolics
ReplyDeleteI do that all the time ...
DeleteLove those tables. I do enjoy a coffee shop. Although I get very cross with my MIL for always going to Costa when there are lots of other independents she could go to. Thanks for linking up to #FridayFrolics
ReplyDeleteNoooo! We try and support independents when we can. The coffee is usually nicer too
Deletelove finding somewhere lovely to just sit and ponder for a while #teenstweensbeyond
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely. Nothing like a bit of peace
DeleteI also have a little coffee shop that I adore! The coffee is great, the owners are lovely and the ambience is perfect- mainly because the music is tasteful and non-intrusive! There's nothing like a coffee that someone else has made for you! #TweensTeensBeyond
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful! Enjoy!
DeleteOh I do love a good coffee shop. Proper independent ones - rather than the big ones! There is one near my mum which is just divine. Literally divine. I am a hot chocolate fan and they are always coming up with new creations along with their amazing range of cakes. And on top of that, they have an area full of toys for the children! Amazing! Thanks for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting each week and enjoy your hot chocolate and cake :)
DeleteOh I absolutely love little coffee shops like this! This looks like a complete gem! Enjoy! Thanks for linking this up to #DreamTeam.
ReplyDeleteIt is! I feel bad, but I'm not saying where it is though!
DeleteWe invested in a coffee machine for home with a view to cutting down trips to coffee shops but it's just not the same. I love a coffee made by a barista and particularly one with a nice swirly pattern on top - so much better than I can do. My preference is always for the little independent shops and not the big chains, the whole experience is just so much better. #TweensTeensBeyond
ReplyDeleteWe don't have the room in the kitchen for a posh machine so we use a cafetiere. I try to limit my trips and have just bought myself a keep cup to stop creating so much landfill.
DeleteScone looks fab and coffee looks even better. We have a local arts centre that serves great coffee and I escape there sometimes! Thanks so much for joining us at #TweensTeensBeyond
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! We all need a place to escape too
DeleteLove your posts Mrs Tubbs! Always out, always a time for a bit of well needed solitude. Extra hot! Independents and for this week only - air con. Thanks for joining us at #tweensteensbeyond
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting and for the lovely comment. *Blush*
DeleteI'm not a big coffee drinker but I love a good coffee shop for quiet reflection! I also love the smell of coffee!! :) #humpdaylinky
ReplyDeleteThey're lovely for just being peaceful and having a bit of down-time. Thank you for commenting :)
DeleteOoh just like Central Perk! I love hanging out in coffee shops too. I don't do it for prolonged periods now I have little kids, of course, but I used to. At uni, I regularly wrote essays and did research at coffee shops. I've never liked working in libraries - I don't actually like the quiet.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining us for #FridayFrolics
With good coffee!!! Rev T writes so many of his sermons there. It's nice to have a people around. Thank you for hosting each week
