Four years ago today I registered on Blogger and posted something for the first tme. Y blog posts, x followers * later blah, blah blah ...
I'm really pleased I started blogging in 2015. Since then, I've never gone more than a few weeks without posting something. Someplace Strange has been here through good and bad times. I've considered shutting the whole place down a few times, but I'm glad I didn't. I love my beautiful space on the Internet.
There's something exciting about cracking open the laptop to write a blog post. You never quite know what you're going to end up with. Sometimes I wish real life had an edit function as my thoughts aren't nearly so organised in person!
Blogging has enabled me to meet some lovely people, given me a creative outlet, taught me new skills and things about myself. It's definitely stopped me being bored. I'm really grateful for all these things. I was a different person four years ago and I wonder who I'll be in four years time. I may have given into the temptation to press the Delete Blog button by then, but I doubt it. There's still so much to say. Thanks to everyone who's been part of my blogging adventure. I couldn't have done it without you.
I wondered if I was the only blogger who felt this way so I asked around:
Alex at Better Together Home: "I feel as though through blogging and social media I have really found 'my tribe' - people who fit so well into my life, that really 'get' me, and who are always so supportive regardless of how far away they are. I've got genuine friends all over the World; some of whom I've met like Jemma and others I've not yet met IRL."
Lucy at Real Mum Review: "I feel like my CV has definitely been enhanced from blogging. Ive learnt social media skills gallore, got my head around SEO, promotion, mailing lists and video editing (work in progress!). I've also made some fantastic virtual friends who support me both as a mother and a blogger."
Samantha at North East Family Fun: "I met one of my now best friends Chloe through blogging. We met through going to the same events and gradually chatting over Social Media/commenting on each others blogs. We have been on two mini breaks together and I did a reading at her wedding last year. It's strange to think if either of us didn't blog, we'd never have met! Here's my post about her wedding".
Please enjoy the coffee and cake ... The super healthy stuff and the tea is out of shot. (Honest).
* I could tell you, but I CBA to do the maths.
Happy blog birthday! Enjoy the well deserved cake!
