Friday night is one of our favourite nights of the week. Quality time on the sofa watching a film as a family, with dinner on a tray. Unwinding together after a busy week of work and school wrapped in a blanket, being cozy.
Everybody does Friday night differently. And everybody does it right. Here's what Friday night looks like in our home, what does it look like in yours?
Rev T makes a special dinner - something a bit more elaborate than normal - or we get a takeaway we eat together as a family. There is wine for us and lemonade for the Tubblet. And pudding. We don't usually do wine or pudding because waistlines, but we do on Friday. Before dinner, there may be treats. On Friday night, crisps make an appearance. On other nights, crisps are forbidden because waistlines.
We try and make sure all chores are done so the weekend isn't spent doing housework. This doesn't always happen, but the front room is hoovered and may see a duster. Sometimes we dim the lights and light some candles.
One of us gets to pick a film for the rest of us to watch. And enjoy. Complaining because you didn't want to watch that is not allowed. Dimming the lights makes it feel like we're in the cinema. Rev T says the TV picture looks better in the dark. After the Tubblet goes to bed, Rev T and I watch grown-up TV. The Last Leg counts as grown-up yes?!
Let me know what your Friday night looks like in the comments. I'm sure there are some ideas I can nick to make ours even better!
Ah sounds lovely. We tend to have date nights on a Saturday and have a drink, no phone and chat. (also no kid...oops!) #coolmumclub xx
ReplyDeleteThat sounds lovely! Enjoy :) Sadly we don't have a babysitter close by so the Tubblet tends to come out with us. Fortunately she's old enough to look after herself now
DeleteEeek I have to say I'm not sure if I have much to offer up here apart from trying to get out to something you wouldn't see or do most weekends which is usually our aim. But we are usually still in manic parent mode whether it's weekend or weekday! Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub lovely x
ReplyDeleteWe are as well, but now the Tubblet is older, manic parenting takes slightly different forms. Like endless reminders about homework, room tidying etc
DeleteSounds like the perfect night to me - cinema nights are the best. We tend to do this on a saturday. On Friday nights I usually fall asleep on the sofa! 😉 Thank you for linking up to #ablogginggoodtime 🎉
ReplyDeleteFriday night is our Saturday night because Rev T works Sunday mornings. There's limits on what you can do when you've got to be up for work the next day :) Thank you for hosting each week :)
DeleteI thought it was just me that had weekday meals and weekend meals! I love a spag bol, but not on a Friday night! Thanks for linking up to #FridayFrolics
ReplyDeleteNope! Glad to be able to reassure you. It's always nice to know it's not just you. Thank you for hosting each week :)
DeleteFriday night is treat night and family night and then some wine later. Although, tonight Oldest is going on a Brownie sleepover. She's only 7 so I am very nervous about it #FridayFrolics
ReplyDeleteHope it goes well for all of you. The first sleepover is a big milestone for everyone
DeleteGreat post!
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteFriday nights are either fajita or takeaway night for us (we have a curry on the way as I type!) We used to have a tradition we called 'crap movie night' where we'd pick whatever took our fancy on Amazon Prime video - we watched some terrible films! Lately though I can't make it through a film before falling asleep, so it's pretty much dinner and then bed - a bit shameful really! Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove
ReplyDeleteNot shameful, sounds utterly blissful to me! :) Hope you had a good evening
DeleteOh I remember Friday nights when they were all about drinking. Now my Friday nights are about getting an early night, alcohol free (who wants a hangover with the kids?) and up early Saturday to tackle the housework! #fridayfrolics
ReplyDeleteNo one wants a hangover with kids! They know when you're weak ...
DeleteI love the sound of this, what a perfect Friday night. I can't wait for my girls to be a bit older and join with these types of evenings. I love a good movie night. thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove x
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you :) Movie nights are the best :)
DeleteThat sounds lovely! I used to love Friday nights. In recent years, with babies and toddlers, they've kind of lost meaning, as have weekends, but I'm sure will return when school starts! Thanks so much for joining us for #FridayFrolics
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting :)
DeleteSounds like a pretty good Friday night to me! The Last Leg totally counts as grown up TV. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Glad someone else thinks Last Leg counts :)
DeleteOur kids are still little so they go to bed early and then Friday night for us usually means a take out, a film and a hot tub in the garden! #FabFridayPost
ReplyDeleteA hot tub?! Jealous!
DeleteOur Friday nights are very similar to yours with nice food, treats and a movie. Very often we'll have homemade pizzas too. I'll make and roll of the bases then everyone comes and adds their own topppings and has their own special pizza each.
ReplyDelete#SharingtheBlogLove
Ah, that sounds lovely. I hadn't thought of homemade pizzas, but may pinch that idea for us. Thank you
DeleteWe make home-made pizzas every Friday which we have with chips. We also cuddle up on the sofa and watch a film with blankets. It is the best night of the week #sharingtheblog x
ReplyDeleteThat sounds lovely. That's two suggestions of home-made pizzas now ... :)
DeleteWow! You are so good with your waistlines! I am rubbish with it but I should really watch it, as it is expanding without me even realising it! lol! Your Friday night sound awesome! Ours is pretty boring as it is normal bedtime for the kids. Ethan has to get up bright an early for his Drama class on Saturday. I'm kind of glad as I get to have a little quiet time with Evelyn. hehe Thank you again for sharing your Friday night with us on #FabFridayPost. Have a great evening tonight! :) xx
ReplyDeleteWe're not as good about our waistlines as we should be ;) It's nice that you get some special time with Evelyn though :)
DeleteOur Friday nights are like most people's Thursdays. Daddy works on Saturdays and has Sundays and Mondays off. So for us Saturdays are Fridays. The three of us take our time with dinner and then have some relaxing time in the living room together. Then we have a leisurely bedtime routine as nobody is in a rush to get to bed. Mommy and daddy might stay up a bit after Peachy is asleep but they might also fall asleep on the couch. Not that exciting these days. #SharingtheBlogLove
ReplyDeleteWorking on a slightly different day to everyone else does throw the week out. You have to find one day that's special for you though. Your Saturday sounds lovely :) Enjoy!
DeleteIt's lovely to have a glimpse into a bloggers life. Thank you for sharing with us. #SharingtheBlogLove
ReplyDeleteI love those glimpses too! It's great to find out more about the person behind the blog. Glad you enjoyed it :)
DeleteAh yes very similar! Friday night is most definitely treat (wine and chocolate) night here! #SharingtheBlogLove
ReplyDeleteAnd by then we have earned them! :)
DeleteYour Friday night sounds great! When the boys get home from school they do chores and homework so they have the weekend free. I cook dinner as usual and we all sit together at the dinner table to eat. After dinner we all do our own thing, whether that's playing games or watching TV. We save the weekends for 'proper' family time. Once the kids are in bed the Hubby and I will turn off the lights and watch our box set (whichever one we're making our way through - currently Grey's Anatomy). Great post hun.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to #pocolo
That sounds great fun :) Thank you for hosting and for the lovely comment
DeleteI think you're a Friday night person or a Saturday night person. In days of old that always referred to going out (and going out out) I was always a Friday night person, and still am although there's much less out out, in fact there's often not even any out, but that's ok. For us, Friday night now means a bit more of special dinner - something nice, less rushed - and usually our first bottle of wine of the week, unless it's been a bad week. It's like a kick off to the weekend, and time to kick back and slow the pace. Hope you're enjoying your Friday night, thanks for sharing with #PoCoLo x
ReplyDeleteLast time we went to Brighton, we were coming home at about 10:30pm as all the students were coming out ... Most weird. We just can't do that anymore!
