I thought it would be nice to share some ideas for fun things to try for the first time. I wanted to think of cheaper ways to have fun as I want to be careful with money whilst still creating brilliant memories. If you're reading this in the morning of the bank holiday, there might be some good ideas here you can steal:
- Being a tourist in your own town or city or visit somewhere you've never visited before.
- Try something you've never done. A sport, a craft or a ... Or maybe volunteer for a charity.
- Grow something. (Whilst I'd normally try something I'm suggesting, I am Plant Death, so won't be doing that! But you might want to try it! Hopefully you'll be more successful than me).
- Create a book list and work your way through it.
- Go for a wander around some stately homes when the National Trust has one of its get in free days. Or go to an art gallery.
- Visit an old friend you haven't seen for a bit.
- Create your own art by getting some photos printed and putting them up on your wall. Or turn the photos into a scrapbook.

I've been thinking a lot about this lately too and do you know what? We went exploring around our area (within walking distance because it's free lol) and we have found some really beautiful places, lots of new picnic spots and even a new place for me to go jogging once I'm better! Playing board games as became an absolute favourite too. Next on the list is to plant some flowers and seeds! xx #FartGlitter
ReplyDeleteHave fun! We've been really enjoying our cheap adventures. Thank you for commenting
DeleteHow about come over and play with your toys?
ReplyDeleteIf you make it to London, then let me know. We're not that far from there :).
Deletesounds good
DeleteThis list is too fab, Nicola! I appreciate the ideas that I hadn't considered, the inspiration, and that the ideas are contemplative and creative and not so commercial. Nice! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure. Thank you so much for the share :)
DeleteI've done a few of these recently :) I really need to make use of my many planners, so maybe I'll create a bullet journal and work through it! #anything goes
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look into this Bullet Journal thing as a few people have mentioned it and it sounds a really interesting way of organising stuff. Thank you for commenting
DeleteAh I am just about to scrapbook and have just been to a NT property!! Great minds eh? I just now need some more time for reading xx #fartglitter
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I can't see much time for reading in your future though! I can barely find time with one let alone two ... Thank you for commenting
DeleteFab list, we're always looking for things to do that don't cost alot! The book list is a great one. I love picking up cheap ones in charity shops, I always have an endless number to read. Thanks for linking up to #MarvMondays! Kaye xo
ReplyDeleteI look out for Kindle deals for the same reason. I love reading:). Thank you for hosting
DeleteOh I love these! I love it when we have people to stay as then we do all the tourist things and that is really fun and nice. Another fun thing we like to do is car picnics when Oldest is at rainbows Mr C, Yougest and I have a car picnic whilst we wait for her. I know that sounds really dull but it is actually really nice and Youngest really looks forward to it :-)
ReplyDeleteCar picnics sound fab! We do car dancing - safely and responsibily of course - and sing. Sounds bonkers, but great fun
DeleteThis is a fab list. Although they seem like straightforward ideas, I often struggle with coming up with anything when I'm on the spot and the kids are moaning so this is fab! Thanks for linking up with us! #bigpinklink
ReplyDeleteGlad to help. It's so hard to find cheap things to do. We got some lovely museums near us and that really helps
DeleteIf you give me the AT AT then I will happily play lego battles. We have a Millennium Falcon here which would love it. Thanks for linking! #chucklemums
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting. Feel free to bring your own Star Wars Lego to the party! I'm sure Rev T won't mind.
DeleteI love the idea of being a tourist in our own city. I work in Leeds and I can honestly say that I wear a groove into the route from train station to work (occasionally via Starbucks) but that is it! My hubby is really good and visits the galleries and museums in his lunch break! I need to take a leaf from his book. Great Lego battle scene BTW! Thanks for sharing with #FartGlitter x
ReplyDeleteI still don't know the area around the office very well - and there's loads to do around there! You do get really focused on errands and getting there. Glad you like the Lego and thanks for hosting
DeleteThis a fab list! I am always on the lookout for fun and cheap things to do. There's never short of Lego battles here - but my kids have taken it a notch up - they have tried to make animated clips of their Lego pieces and it's really fun and engrossing! #anythinggoes
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with #PasstheSauce
DeleteOooooh, that sounds brilliant. Can you see the clips anywhere?
DeleteOh wow, the lego battles look like so much fun! I cant wait to try it out, or eh should I say get the kids to try it out :) xx #fartglitter
ReplyDeleteHope you ... Er ... The kids enjoy getting the Lego out. Thank you for commenting
DeletePlant death, lol. I'm sure you're not!! Good list, I like the idea of making a list and trying to tick the things off! Thanks for linking up #bestandworst
ReplyDeleteSadly I am. Even managed to under water a cactus. Thank you for hosting :)
DeleteI now have a craving to get all the lego out!!! Thanks for linking to #chucklemums
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! We had great fun :)
DeleteLego battles look amazing fun! We love being tourists in our own city as you seem to miss things right on your doorstep don't you and its always fun to find things out about where you live :)
ReplyDelete#MMWBH
They are - except when you miss a few bricks when tidying up and find them later with your feet!
DeleteI love hiking, which thankfully is usually free, unless we have to pay for park entrance somewhere, but everywhere local is free. I also love walking around fancy neighborhoods and peeping all the beautiful houses. Sometimes I'll go early on a weekend & brew some coffee at home to sip while I'm out
ReplyDeleteWe love going for walks and peering at the posh houses too! Thank you for commenting :)
DeleteSo true. Sometimes I feel so desperate to go somewhere, that I forget the fun that is right here on my doorstep. #bestandworst
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what you can find locally. We're always stumbling across new things
DeleteWe love to play good old-fashioned board games here. And our little girl likes to choreograph dance sessions.. interested for us ;) #madmidweek
ReplyDeleteDance sessions sound fun :). Thank yiu for commenting
DeleteIs it wrong that I'm in my 30s and the first thing I want to try from the list is Lego battles lol? It looks so fun, I love Lego :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to #AnythingGoes
Debbie
Frankly no. Lego battles are tremendous fun although the Tubblet is a terrible cheat
DeleteWe tend to stay at home over the Summer and spend lots of time being tourists in our own country! It's a great way to share some magical childhood memories of special places with my own kids. #sharethejoy
ReplyDeleteIt is! Especially as they may be easier to revisit when the child is an adult :) Thank you for hosting each week
DeleteGreat list! Being a tourist in your own town is always a good idea! I remember as we came to the end of our third year at uni, I suggested to my housemates that we should finally get around to going to visit the castle in our uni town...& one of them said, 'There's a castle here?? Where??' We then had a discussion about why Castle Hill was called Castle Hill. #bigpinklink
ReplyDeleteThat is genius! How can you not notice a whole castle?! Hope you enjoyed finally seeing it properly
DeleteI love the spontaneous suggestions on your list. Sometimes we should just step out of our routines and comfort zones for sure. Thanks for linking up to Share With Me. I have enjoyed reading your blog posts and so grateful for you linking up. I hope you will continue to link up in the next few weeks as I had the reins over to the new Share With Me hostess and continue long after linking up with her too. #sharewithme
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for hosting each week and enjoy the rest :). I hope the new Host enjoys meeting us all and has loads of fun
