Time may fly past when you're the driver of a train, when you're riding on the footplate there and back again, but it doesn't when you're the passenger.
You need things to make the journey better or pass the time when the train or bus is late. Here's what I use to make the commute better:
- Notepad. For scribbling down reminders, notes on ideas, to do lists. And then crossing them off when they're done.
- Something to read. Metro to catch up on news, plus a Kindle loaded with books.
- A phone. To play games on. Preferably ones that don't use up all the battery or wifi allowance. With a great playlist on as music makes a long commute seem shorter. And access to social media to check Facebook, Instagram or ...
- The right kit. Hat, gloves and a scarf when it's cold and a bottle of water for when it's hot. Plus, if you have small travelling companions, healthy snacks, a drink, something to read, something to do and a Tablet loaded with stuff to watch / listen to. With headphones. The rest of the carriage does not want to listen along too.
How do you while away the time whilst getting to work? (No news by the way. The process trundles on and I am job hunting).

A kindle or book is a must have for me as dont often have time to read at home, as well as drinks and a snack! #bestandworst
ReplyDeleteI love my Kindle and wouldn't be without it on a journey. It's so useful and means you don't get stressed when the train is late
DeleteI have a half hour drive both ways to work, but if I could spend that time sitting back and letting someone else handle that while I wrote or read I would jump at the chance
ReplyDeleteI work in central London so couldn't drive in . Even if I could drive
DeleteBeing at home with young kids I think I would enjoy a daily commute of just sitting doing nothing, and not 'listening'. The reality is I usually need a strong coffee just to survive!
ReplyDeleteStrong coffee is one of life's essentials!!! Thank you for commenting
DeleteIt's funny because as a parent of two under fives, the idea of sitting on a long journey being bored sounds quite idyllic! One day I'm sure I'll regret thinking that ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up with #coolmumclub
I'm not sure a long journey with two under fives would be very idyllic! I remember travelling with the Tubblet at that age and is was really stressful!
DeleteWhen I used to bus and train I actually read loads it was great!! No I drive it just has to be music. My Spotify or the radio. You look like you keep very busy. Thanks for sharing with #bestandworst xx
