Back in November, I mentioned that my work was having an “organisational redesign”. It’s finally completed. The European phase of implementing the design has started in the UK. The team that I’m part of will shrink from two people to one person.
The good news is that I have a 50% chance of having a job at the end of process. The bad news is that I have a 50% chance of having a job at the end of process.
This is still better news that some people got the other day – which is they have no chance of having a job at the end of the process unless they can find one elsewhere in the company or just elsewhere.
The CV and LinkedIn profiles have been updated, the job agencies contacted and I am job hunting like a mofo.
Blog-wise, I’ll either be posting less as that spare writing time will be spent crafting application letters and bespoke CVs or posting more as a displacement activity.
The whole process will take at least 45 days so I probably won’t talk about it much until it’s over. Please send good thoughts and prayers that at the end of it, I and the others impacted still have a job. Either where we’re at or somewhere else. Thank you.

Good thoughts going your way!

DeleteBest of luck to you! I know what it's like not having a job. I thought once I got my degree I would be able to find a job much easier but it seems that the higher your degree, the harder it is to find a job, at least it is here in the states. I am wishing you the best at either keeping your job you have or finding something better. #mg
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteOh of course, lots of positive thoughts and prayers coming your way. At the end of 2014 I sent out a very heartfelt prayer asking for direction as I felt like I was in hell, a few days later I went back to work to find out I was facing redundancy... prayer answered ;) I mean, you can't get a clearer message about direction than that, can you? I don't mean to sound glib, it was actually a really big deal, but I knew that what was happening was okay and that life is a journey and my direction was changing. I think I am still making that change, to be honest, and I won't lie and say it hasn't been tough, but I trust in it enough to go with it. So that is my hope and prayer for you all, that whatever happens and whatever path you end up taking (either way, whether you keep your jobs or not, change is afoot) you'll feel supported in moving forwards. #sharethejoy
ReplyDeleteThank you :) We're trying to focus on the opportunity aspect rather than the "How are we going to eat?" aspect. I wish you all the best for your journey towards the right place for you. Keep trusting!

DeleteYou definitely have my prayers and positive thoughts coming your way. So sorry that you're going through this. #bigpinklink
ReplyDeleteAs I frequently say, it is what it is. Thank you for the prayer and positive thoughts :)
DeleteOh this sounds so stressful, basically pitted against your co-worker, and probably friend if you've been working together a long time. I'm so sorry you're going through this, but hopefully, whatever happens, it will be the start of a wonderful new journey for you. I look forward to hearing what the next chapter brings you. We'll miss you if you do have blogging break but look forward to seeing you back soon. Hopefully it will be the latter and we'll see more of you! Thanks for linking up with us! #bigpinklink
ReplyDeleteThat's the worst aspect of it tbh. We've worked together for 10 years and although I want the job, I don't want it at her expense if that makes sense. The situation is horrible :( Thank you for hosting each week :)
DeleteIt is so tough, especially with uncertainty. We are in a similar position right now and it is tough. Good luck lovely xx
ReplyDeleteCrossing everything for you and sending hugs :)

DeleteOh good luck lovely, there is a lot of organisational restructuring and redesign going on at the moment. My organisation for example, is another that is going through a similar process and I will be in a similar position to you next year when I return from maternity leave. It can be a difficult and stressful process, but it also opens up a whole new range of opportunities for you too hopefully. Will be thinking of you over the next few weeks. It'll be good to hear how you get on so please do share with us all if/when you are ready to. Thanks for linking up to #MarvMondays. Emily
ReplyDeleteThank you. However prepared you are for these things, it's still a shock. But all the recruiters I've spoken too have been positive and there is stuff out there. I wish you luck too :)
DeleteThoughts are with you lovely, fingers are crossed, sending you positive vibes xx
