DIY Daddy shared a great post about his children's earliest childhood memories that made me wonder about our family. So I asked ...
The Tubblet
Going to America for the first time to meet Rev T's American family and visiting Disney. With lots of running about. The picture is of her at Aunt C and Uncle M's house in the US during the trip. As you can see, there was lots of running about. And the hat .. Well, she never lost it. Unlike all the other ones I bought for her.
Rev T
Is not sharing his earliest memory on the blog. Because it's his. Which is fair enough.
Me
I have two. They're both around the same time, so I'm not sure which is actually the earliest:
- Arguing with my mother because I wanted to wear my beautiful red coat with the velvet collar when we went out. Even though it was summer and the coat was too small.
- We used to live in a cul-de-sac and all the children in the street would play outside for hours.
I'm glad that the memories are happy and full of love whilst reflecting our family quirks. What are your earliest memories?
Thank you, DIY Daddy for the idea and for agreeing to let me reuse it.
I moved when I was three but have a surpising number of memories from our first home. The blizzard of 78, trick or treating, the cool Planet of the Apes toys that the older neighbors had. It amazes me sometimes the things that the munchkin remembers sometimes. Every once in a while she'll bring something up, and I think "wait, weren't you a year old when that happened?"
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing the things they remember. I was really surprised the Tubblet remembered her first trip to America
DeleteWhat wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteI remember going on holiday with my parents and having some very funny memories of those! Thanks for linking up to the #BinkyLinky
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting - and your OH for the idea :)
DeleteOh, this is lovely! I am thinking now of my earliest memory - I have a few. My favourite would be coming home from school and drinking some milk. #PoColo
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool. I remember drinking luke warm milk at school as they always put it next to the radiator. Why I'll never know
DeleteMy earliest childhood memory is laying in my crib and trying to tell myself a story in order to put myself to sleep. I tried to make up one about Winnie the Pooh but didn't get very far, because I was too young to really be creative. I guess part of me has always been a storyteller! #justanotherlinky
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely memory, thank you for sharing :)
DeleteOh I like this. My two earliest memories are 1) on the day before my 3rd or 4th birthday telling Mum that I wished I had asked for red, sparkly rollerskates for my birthday as I really wanted to learn to skate and then I woke up to find that I had them and I remember thinking that it was because I had wished for them. The second memory is waking up on Christmas Day to find my Nan and Grandad in our house and no sign of my Mum and Dad. I was then told that they were in hospital because my brother was on his way! #justanotherlinky
ReplyDeleteRed shiny roller skates! Those sound amazing :) Thank you for sharing that memory and the one of your brother being born :)
DeleteI can remember going to playgroup and someone pushing me off the slide - I must have been two years old. Why I remember this so vividly I don't know!?? Great #FabFridayPost
ReplyDeleteMemories are so random, I can't think why that one would stick in your head but not others. Thank you for commenting
DeleteSome of my earliest memories involve playing dress up and playing outdoors with neighborhood friends. I have a very special memory of my dad holding me in his arms while he was watching football on the tv...it's so great to remember him actually holding me! #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteAh, that's lovely. Thank you for sharing :)
DeleteLovely memories and thank you I'm honoured that you did a post like mine thanks for linking to the Binkylinky
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure. Thank you so much for the idea :) I'm so pleased you liked what i did with it.
DeleteThat hat is amazing, I'm not surprised she made sure it didn't get lost. This are all lovely happy memories. I think my earliest memory is making paper hats at my first ever primary school, it must have been fun to stay in my mind so clearly! This is a lovely idea for a post.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for linking this up to #kcacols. Hope to see you again next Sunday x
It was a brilliant idea by Nigel at DIY Daddy ;) I'm so pleased he let me borrow it. Thank you for sharing your memory, it's lovely
DeleteOh lovely! A great idea!

Thank you for hosting each week :) Glad you liked Nigel's idea :)
DeleteThey never lose the hats you want them too do they? And invariably it's the one they'll want to wear everywhere. I've some fab memories (and photographic evidence) of my niece in her own choice of clothes, makes me smile every time! Thanks for linking up to #pocolo
ReplyDeleteNo! All the lovely ones never lasted more than a month or so. That one stayed with us for years.
DeleteMine was riding on a small fairground train at the seaside. My Mum was convinced I could not have remembered it for real and must have been influenced by what people told me - that was until I explained to the the colours of the booth and everything else in great detail. It obviously made a great impression on this little girl from the countryside on what was my first day trip to the seaside! #FabFridayPost
ReplyDeleteFabulous memory! Thank you for sharing :)
DeleteI've just had this very same conversation with Lily. She said she remembers being in a plastic box which I can only imagine was her duplo box and we used to push her around in it when she was really dinky. For me, it was going up and down the veranda in my baby walker and being given sweets by the neighbour's. Couldn't do that now!! Lovely post. #kcacols
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful memories, thank you for sharing. I've got similar memories of going wandering when I was tiny - you wouldn't dare let your children do that now.
DeleteTubblet looks like she's having fun there! These things are always so interesting. I THINK my earliest memory is my little sister coming home from hospital on Christmas Day. However, I suspect it is a false memory from what people told me and pictures I saw, as I was under two at the time. I do remember moving house when I was 3 from Sheffield to Cambridge. I remember being in the empty living room of the house we were leaving. Although I remember things about the Cambridge house we moved to, that is the only memory I have of the house we moved from - one room on the day we left it. #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteShe was :). Thank you for sharing your memories. It'll be interesting to find out what the baby and the toddler remember in a few years time
DeleteThey're great memories, my earliest memory is of walking into our lounge as a child - we'd just moved into a new house and one my favourite teddies was sat in the corner, I must've been about 5 years old. I remember sitting on the teddy and watching my parents go in and out of the house.
