Apart from Rev T and the Tubblet as that goes almost without saying!
Our house belongs to the church where Rev T serves, but although it's only a borrow, it still feels like ours. We love this temporary home. Here are some of the things here that bring me the most joy.
Pets
We love animals and like having pets so having an animal around makes it feel like home. We have two gerbils, Sparkle and Storm. They are very mischievous, rather messy and we love them. Pets reduce stress and anxiety. They also make us happier and calmer. Having these two ladies around is wonderful.
Candles
I like the house to smell good. We buy huge candles that are burnt regularly to keep things smelling fresh. There is some disagreement over what scents are best. Rev T likes Christmasy, cinnamon smells whilst I prefer florals or linen.
Food
A fully stocked larder (aka the kitchen cupboard and the fridge) is a privilege and a joy. We try to shop local and seasonal. We cook from fresh and try to eat healthily.
Books
I love books and love seeing them around. I always check for book cases when visiting. (And I try not to judge). Rev T's study is packed with theology books. (I like seeing them, I've never felt the urge to read one!)
Lego
Rev T and the Tubblet love Lego so there is always lots of it around. Rev T tends to collect Star Wars sets that he builds and displays. The Tubblet builds, takes apart and then creates something else.
Over the years we've been given some lovely things - pictures, carvings, embroidery - by friends and family. These things remind us of the wonderful people who share our lives. We've also picked up items on our travels that remind us of great holidays in magical places.
I love candles too - if I want to give my rooms a makeover, I go buy candles and cushions! I just love making the house feel all cosy - your home is not a building - it's who you share it with and how you live in it which makes a house a home :) #bestandworst

DeleteThis is a lovely post. I am afraid that I am going to have to side with Rev T on the scents - Christmassy/cinnamon all the way. Even in July. Beautiful colours in that picture. #MMWBH

It says a lot about the person and I like you even more!! ;-) I have a Persian cat that is my only little boy. We love him a lot. My house wouldn't be the same without him! I love candles too. I have lots of books at home but specially law books (yes I know boring! LOL). I like that you have your cupboard full of fresh and seasonal food. So nice!!
