After tidying my makeup collection and getting rid of all the things that were rarely / never used, I now have a selection of products that work together.
Makeup tends to be neutral, natural flush, matte finishes with the occasional bit of shimmer and some lip gloss. (Despite what I said here).
I'm more careful about what I buy and try not to waste anything. Nothing new has been purchased in months.
I'm more careful about what I buy and try not to waste anything. Nothing new has been purchased in months.
- Needs. Work out what you use on a daily basis. (It's less than you think).
- Suitability. Assess your natural skin and hair colour. Buy products that work with that not against it.
- Ingredients. Learn what ingredients work for you and what doesn't. (Silicone in hair products makes my hair stick together in clumps. Not a good look).
- Simplify. Create a simple routine for every day that can be ramped up for evenings out.
- Budget. Give yourself a limit and stick to it. Having a budget and a simple routine helps prevent waste.
- Save or splurge. Decide which products are worth spending more on and which aren't.
- Organise. Keep your stash tidy so you can find things easily.
A typical face of the weekday day (aka FOTD) consists of foundation, concealer, pressed powder, blush, eye shadow, brow product, mascara, eye pencil (maybe) and a lip product.
Wishing everyone who's going to Brit Mums a fabulous time and sharing with all these great Linkys
A good plan. Not necessary for me. I only can be bothered with eyeliner and mascara. Those are replaced when they run out every 4 months or so. Foundation scares me. I grew up surrounded by orange-faced women and it really put me off. Plus here it would slide down my face in a sweaty puddle in about ten minutes.
ReplyDeleteFoundation used to scare me for the same reason! Who wants to look orange?! Thank you for commenting
DeleteI really need to upgrade my make up...I tend to run along using different products and I can't say anything is amazing!! Or maybe I just need to work on my make up skills. I def. want to try benefit stuff, I've only heard good things. Thanks for linking up to #happyquacks

DeleteGreat advice! I don't normally wear a lot of makeup, just concealer and mascara. But for some reason I have loads of makeup, most of it I've never even used. I should probably have a clear out soon.. #momsterslink
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting and commenting. I'm off to check out your fantastic recipes!
DeleteMy daily make up consists of just lip balm, occasionally lip gloss and a bit of mascara. I like to wear a bit more for nights out though. I seem to own enough make up to start my own counter though lol #momsterlink

DeleteOh my gosh, I'm laughing! This looks so sensible yet my makeup drawer is a complete jumble of products. Obviously, I need to think things through. Thanks for the motivating post and for joining us at #MidLifeLuv.

ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting and I hope you enjoyed Britmums
DeleteI agree that less is more and to stick with the products you love. I do however get a sample box every month from Boxy Charm and I have found some good products through that. Thanks for linking up with #momsterslink.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of sample boxes, but haven't found a good one as yet. Thank you for hosting
