Go home trolley. You're drunk

Upturned trolley on a pavement

You were supposed to get a picture of Rev T going up for his Right Hand of Ministry at the Baptist Union (BU) Conference on Saturday.  In previous years, all the newly accredited Ministers have trooped up on stage, got a handshake from the good and great, then trooped off again.

A public recognition of a pit-stop on a more private, lengthier journey.  This year, they did it a little differently.

The new minister's names were displayed on a screen during the worship service.  The young people built a wall of boxes with their names at the same time.

The times were a little unclear so, when his name came up, we were having coffee and bun.  Putting the world to rights with some other conference attendees.

They prayed for the newly accredited ministers later, but it wasn't really a moment to whip out my phone for a picture.  Thank you to the couple who decided Rev T was well served so prayed for me instead.  And to everyone else who made our first BU conference such a good day.

I liked the way they did the ceremony.  Next year, explain where people have to be and when!

Instead, here's Urban Grime, Village Style:

Shame you missed the wall building. It was quite moving and an effective illustration of church. Special for me because my kids helped do the readings.

We were disappointed to have missed it as, from the descriptions, it sounded amazing. Hopefully next year they'll make the timings clearer.

It was lovely to meet you on Saturday and maybe I'll see you next year! Thank you for commenting too!

Sounds like you had a great day despite unclear timings. I love the conferences I've been to like this but like most church things they are always ever changing so I'm sure they probably wasn't overly clear on the timings either. Plus side you had a good day and put the world to rights with a cuppa.
Oh and I love the picture! #bestandworst

The conference used to be done over three days, but this year they compressed it down to one. It was a learning curve for everyone I think.

It was an excellent day overall, fabulous to meet some of Rev T's Uni friends!

love the picture title! If you have a cup of tea, things can never go too far wrong even if you did end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. :-) Popping over from #bestandworst.
